This A-6E from the VA-55 was one of two Intruders from this squadron to score kills against Libyan Navy’s fast missile craft during the Operation Prairie Fire, in the night from 24 to 25 March 1986. It is illustrated in one of unusual configurations that resulted from experiences from Operations Attain Document II, Attain Document III and Prairie Fire, namely armed with a mix of AGM-84A Harpoon anti-ship missile and AIM-9 Sidewinder, while at least two Mk.20 Rockeye CBUs were usually carried on multiple ejector rack under the starboard (right) wing.
