The five Super Etendards leased to Iraq from 1983 until 1985 wore the standard french Aeronavale camouflage pattern. The IrAF serial numbers were 7445, 7446, 7447, 7448 and 7449. The deliver of the SuE was a gap filler until the new Mirage variant of the F.1EQ would become available. Combat operations started in late februarz 1984. The iraqis designated them as “Hunters”. SuE fired several dozens of Exocets in combat, mainlz against merchant ships along the iranian coast of the Gulf.
