British Sailing ship was originally a small merchant ship, launched in 1784.

British Sailing ship was originally a small merchant ship, launched in 1784.
She was commissioned by the Royal Navy for a mission to obtain breadfruit plants from Tahiti and transport them to the West Indies. The Bounty was commanded by William Bligh, and was taken over by the crew under Fletcher Christian in the famous mutiny of 1789.
She was destroyed when the mutineers set fire to her in 1790 off Pitcairn Island.
